Prof. Eagle Yi-Kung Huang, Director of the Institute, recently traveled to Prague to officially sign a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dr. Ondřej Kuda, Director of the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FGÚ). Officially taking effect on June 1, 2026, for a five-year tenure, this landmark agreement unfolds an exciting new chapter for cutting-edge medical and pharmacological research collaborations between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. As a premier European powerhouse in neuroscience and physiological metabolism research, FGÚ represents the pinnacle of scientific innovation in the region. 📸 Historic Moment: FGÚ Director, Dr. Ondřej Kuda (left), and NDMU Pharmacology Director, Prof. Eagle Yi-Kung Huang (right), officially exchange the newly ratified 5-year cooperative agreement. 📸 Academic Fellowship: Prof. Eagle Yi-Kung Huang reunited with Dr. Jan Svoboda (right), Deputy Head of the Laboratory of Neurophysiology of Memory at FGÚ, showcasing deep inter-institutional ties. This historic alliance was driven by the dedicated recommendation and unwavering support of Dr. Jan Svoboda. Following his prestigious visit and lecture at NDMU in 2024, both institutes recognized a profound synergy in research philosophies and educational visions, establishing a resilient, family-like bond. Prof. Huang’s reciprocal mission to Prague was welcomed with exceptional warmth by Dr. Svoboda and his colleagues. From rigorous intellectual discourse within scientific laboratories to cultural walks across the historic "City of a Hundred Spires," this mission perfectly embodies a sincere, rock-solid academic fellowship that transcends geographical boundaries. 💡 ✨ Special Side Note from the Curator: A Global Footprint Built Upon Pure Dedication Behind this monumental diplomatic triumph lies an inspiring story of scientific devotion. This entire European academic mission was executed by Director Eagle Yi-Kung Huang alone—completely self-funded and without official leave subsidies. Driven purely by an unadulterated passion for education and research, he personally engaged with top-tier international institutions to open doors for our students. This selfless role-modeling not only builds an invaluable global platform for NDMU Pharmacology but stands as the ultimate living testament to our core vision: "Leading Research, Navigating Pharmacology." Under the newly ratified MOU, both institutions commit to a robust framework of joint educational and research endeavors. The specific collaborative blueprints encompass facilitating mutual visiting scholar programs, launching specialized research internships and independent study exchanges for undergraduate and graduate students, and establishing a regular pipeline for co-developing international research projects. NDMU Pharmacology remains steadfast in expanding its international reach, channeling premium resources into nurturing the next generation of translational medicine elites equipped with a truly global perspective. 【Media Contact Information】 Graduate Institute of Pharmacology, National Defense Medical University Digital Curation Specialist｜ Ying-Jie Chen 📧 Email: paganini@mail.ndmutsgh.edu.tw 📞 Tel: 18669

<deadline>2036-07-31T00:00:00</deadline>
【Latest Event】2026.6.22-Mayor of Hachioji City, Japan Visits National Defense Medical University

【Mayor of Hachioji City, Japan Visits National Defense Medical University】 A delegation led by Mr. Kazuo Shiyake, Mayor of Hachioji City, Tokyo, Japan, visited National Defense Medical University (NDMU) for academic and professional exchange. As a medical professional from the Center for Frontier Medicine of National Taiwan University Hospital(NTUH), he shared his extensive research in the field of hereditary retinal degeneration, ophthalmic genetics, ocular neurodegenerative diseases and regenerative medicine, together with his overseas training experience at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) at Harvard University. Dr. Chen has attributed his career as an ophthalmologist to his dedicated endeavors over the years. Reflecting on his decision to specialize in ophthalmology, Dr. Chen shared his deep passion for precision minimally invasive surgery. This passion was followed by his observation during college, where he witnessed many young and elders diagnosed with inherited or acquired degenerative blindness, leading to a sense of social deprivation. He shared his training experience of precision medicine during his time at MEEI, Harvard University with the insight of “Continuing the knowledge acquired through research overseas and implementing it in Taiwanese hospitals” in an easy-to-understand approach. The purpose aims to encourage students present to boldly participate in overseas exchanges. There were approximately 40 students participating in this event. During an actively interactive QA session, Dr. Chen imparted some practical tips on the future career choice for the audience to carve out their own paths. The average overall evaluation score is 4.6 out of 5, with 62.5% of the participants scoring 5 out of 5 in response to the question, “Rate your willingness to engage in overseas exchanges after attending today’s guest lecture.” (We extend deep appreciation to a medical student whose qualitative feedback has enriched the content.)

<deadline>2033-12-31T00:00:00</deadline>
【Event Wrap-up】The student forum succeeds in bringing interested students with Director Sakae Tanaka

On 27th of October afternoon, the Office of International Affairs organized a student forum with Director Sakae Tanaka at the meeting room of Center for Faculty Development.
