Mission and Educational Vision
The teaching mission of the
Graduate Institute of Physiology
aligns with the educational vision of the
National Defense Medical University—to cultivate outstanding healthcare professionals equipped with strong scientific knowledge, clinical competence, and the ability to contribute to both civilian and military healthcare systems.
Teaching Responsibilities
Our faculty is responsible for teaching physiology to undergraduate students across the University's five schools—Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public Health—as well as providing physiology and laboratory training for military medical personnel. Through an integrated curriculum, students develop a comprehensive understanding of human physiological functions, establishing a solid foundation for future clinical practice and biomedical research.
Educational Philosophy
Our educational philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning and the integration of fundamental science, experimental evidence, and clinical application. Teaching is tailored to students' individual interests and strengths, fostering both academic excellence and professional development.
Teaching Methods
Courses are delivered by experienced faculty members with expertise in diverse areas of physiology and biomedical sciences. A variety of teaching methods—including lectures, laboratory sessions, demonstrations, seminars, and group discussions—are employed to promote active learning. In addition, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and other interactive teaching strategies are incorporated to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative learning.
Graduate Development
The Institute is committed to nurturing independent, innovative, and globally competitive graduates. Through rigorous scientific training, students develop research competency, effective communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to make sound decisions—qualities essential for successful careers in academia, biomedical research, healthcare, and related fields.
