The design and the arrangement of course curriculum are based on the concepts of “person, life span, family, nursing process and dynamics.”By using the philosophy “holism” as the central concept and elements of “family, environment, stage of life, nursing process” as the sub-framework to design and arrange the course curriculum and clinical practices.
Thus, within the four-year study period, students have to take general education courses first (medicine and humanities, art appreciation, communication, citizenship consciousness and natural sciences.) to develop their concerns and interests in other people.
Next, students take basic medical courses related to health and disease subjects first, so that they learn the required knowledge (physiology, psychology, social and spiritual knowledge in biomedical science and behavioral sciences) to become professional nurses.
In the basic professional courses, students learn to understand the stages of life and general care skills in meeting the clients’ health needs.
In the advanced professional courses, students use the philosophy that use family as the central concept and combine the knowledge of nursing process, professional nursing knowledge and skills to solve clients’ existing or potential health problems.
Finally, students will be able to understand the influences from the society, community or the military on the clients, so that they can provide the appropriate nursing cares in meeting the clients’ expectations and needs.
